What is Yoga?
Yoga is part of an ancient system of
self improvement which is timeless and universal in
its application. Through the orchestration of body
postures, called asanas, attention to breath, and
mindfulness, the yoga student learns to experience the
present moment in the fullest and most authentic
sense.
The literal meaning of yoga is to "yoke" or bring into
harmony the body, mind, and spirit.
Yoga emphasizes the development of strength, stamina,
flexibility, and balance, as well as concentration and
meditation.
Who We Are.
Chattanooga's first yoga studio was founded in November 1999. ClearSpring Yoga Studio is an environment conducive to the study of Yoga and reflects the commitment of ClearSpring owners Sue Reynolds and Stephanie Rider, as well as that of the teaching staff, to share their love of Yoga with their students. At ClearSpring we honor the ancient origins of the yogic system and while teaching the body postures, proper breathing and mindfulness in the context of contemporary western culture.
A variety of classes to suit a wide range of needs are offered by well-trained, qualified instructors who continue to study with master teachers and who strive to grow in their personal yoga practice. Workshops led by nationally known master teachers are presented throughout the year. Private instruction is also available. Our philosophy, All Bodies Welcome, reflects our commitment to bring the benefits of yoga to young and old, and to people of all shapes and sizes. It is not necessary to be flexible to start yoga. Yoga will make you more flexible.
